Dr Gamaliel Tan, Orthopaedic Spine Surgeon
Dr Gamaliel Tan is an orthopaedic surgeon who treats conditions of the spine. He favours minimally invasive spine techniques that shorten downtime and support rehabilitation. At The Clifford Surgery he performs spine procedures that can be done as day surgery. Operations that need a major operating theatre are done in hospital.
Experience
Dr Tan set up the Orthopaedics Department at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in 2009 and led it until 2018. He then headed its Spine Division until 2023, and in 2020 started the hospital’s endoscopic spine surgery service. From 2018 to 2023 he was Group Chief Medical Informatics Officer of the National University Health System.
